A cooking app with absolutely no recipes. Instead, KnowledgeBook: Cooking contains all the little bits of information and rules of thumb that you need to really use and understand your recipes -- what can be substituted for buttermilk or baking soda in a pinch, how many bananas it takes to make 1 cup of slices, how many cups are in a pint, what temperature an oven should be set to if the recipe calls for a "moderately hot" oven, etc.

KnowledgeBook: Cooking compiles all this information in one place, and adds much more: what can be substituted for buttermilk if you dont have vinegar? How many US cups are in an Imperial pint? (or an Australian pint?) What does it mean to papillote something? How should a slow cooker recipe be adjusted at high altitude? What temperature in Fahrenheit does Gas Mark 6 on a British stove correspond to?

With sections for Yields and Equivalents (including canning yields), Substitutions, general cooking terms, Measurement conversions, and High-Altitude considerations, KnowledgeBook: Cooking aims to be a one-stop reference for all the "extra" information needed to help you understand your recipes and get to Cooking!

What people are saying about KnowledgeBook: Cooking:

"Its almost become indispensable. Ive used every feature. If you cook, bake, or can, you NEED this!"
("Samsnona", KnowledgeBook:Cooking 1.2.0, May 2012)

"This app is a must have for any one who calls his or herself a culinarian whether a novice or a professional. I love that the app reveals yields, substitutions and relevant and different information for cooking instead of only recipes."
("HI Life", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.2.0, Jul 2012)

"As a caterer, I have found this app to be very valuable...I love the yields for produce. Its great to know how much of a fairly expensive item I will need to make a recipe. This cuts down on waste a great deal and saves me money."
("Phoenix 1972", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.10, Feb. 2011)

"I have installed a similar app but this one is much better. Its really useful in cooking."
("Asparago", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.0.1, Jan 2011)

"Excellent app very handy for alternative ingredients and very informative :) must have app"
("Cheeksnes", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.0.1, Jan 2011)

"Awesome app! The best cooking reference app Ive ever used all wrapped up in a beautiful FREE bow! Its actually better than most of the paid cooking reference apps and those dont offer HALF the info this one does. A must have for anyone who cooks!"
("Tatem214", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.0.0, Dec 2010)

Pros and cons of Cooking app for iPhone and iPad

Cooking app good for

Its amazing , it helped me convert measurements and what substitutes to use ! But why is what beating an egg is - not in there... Hmm . This app still deserves 5 stars!
And I love to refer to this app for measurement conversions for my whacky chefs recipes and substitutions when we run out of ingredients. Great app!!
Pretty good app, worth having. Could use more substitutions though.
I use it all the time in the kitchen, converting between imperial and metric, for substitution and glossary.
It is realy handy d To have on hand especialy the substitutions
I think this is an awesome app. I used it for egg alternative and the cake turned out amazing.

Some bad moments

The latest upgrade cant get completed and I cant delete it either.
I love the substitutions. I use it ALL the time. Definitely get this.
The best app to check measurements...use all the time for conversions.
I really like this app, it is easy to use. It would be better if the substitutions list and the terms list were more comprehensive, as I do a lot of exotic dishes, and it is a pain to have to search for the answers I need. But still, this is a good app.
Just type in the measurement and you get the conversion in many many different ways!! I use this alot :)
I love this!!!! I dont have to go online to search for every little thing! I live in a small country in Africa so theres alot of stuff we dont have here. I love the substitution and measurement sections
